NEW YORK, NY – Eleanor’s Legacy today announces its endorsement of JO CORRIGAN for Village Of Suffern Trustee. The organization, which recruits, trains, and funds pro-choice Democratic women candidates for state and local office in New York State, has endorsed over 180 candidates for local office in 29 counties across the state.
“The wave of New York women stepping up to run and lead keeps on rolling,” said Brette McSweeney, president of Eleanor’s Legacy. “Local office is the building block of our democracy. At a time when voters are looking for leaders with integrity and commitment to their communities, who we elect to lead our villages, towns, cities, and counties matters more than ever. As Mrs. Roosevelt said, “It’s up to the women.””

Eleanor’s Legacy is building a new generation of women leaders across New York State. Founded in 2001 by Judith Hope, the first woman elected a town supervisor on Long Island, and inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt, our mission is to recruit, train, and fund pro-choice Democratic women to state and local office across New York State. The 181 women candidates endorsed in the 2019 election cycle represents the highest number of women candidates endorsed by Eleanor’s Legacy to date.
