Judge Tom Walsh is a lifelong resident of Rockland County, who grew up in Congers and graduated from Clarkstown High School. After high school, Tom attended Fordham College, where he earned by B.A degree in 1970. Realizing that he had a passion for law, Tom had the distinct pleasure of attending and graduating from St. John’s University School of Law in 1975.

Immediately following law school, Tom began in private practice and worked for the people of Rockland County as an Assistant County Attorney, where he served from 1976 – 2008. During his time as County Attorney, Tom primarily worked with the health department, enforcing the sanitary code with particular emphasis on housing violations.

Beginning in 1983, Tom was elected as a Village Justice in Haverstraw. Since then, he has gone on to serve as a Judge at the Town, County, and State level. During his forty-two (42) years of legal and judicial experience, Tom has dealt with a wide array of issues, including: murder, sexual assault, accidents of every kind, drug trafficking, medical malpractice, zoning and land use, development and real property, mortgage foreclosures, divorces, contracts, and guardianships, as well as other municipal issues.

Each of these subjects requires a specialized knowledge of the applicable law. It also requires an understanding that at the end of the day, justice is about people, and that Tom’s decisions impact people’s lives. That is why he’s never allowed politics, special interests, or his personal beliefs to enter into his decisions. Tom simply looked at each case on its merits and applied the law – evenly and fairly.

Tom is running for District Attorney because he’s concerned about the future of our County and the corrosive political corruption that has harmed our communities. It’s why he believes now more than ever, we need an honest, principled leader – someone with the right experience to serve as our next District Attorney.

As District Attorney, Tom will be an independent voice for Rockland County and work every day to put you, the people of this county, before politics.

As District Attorney, Judge Walsh will:

  • PROTECT taxpayers from fraud and abuse by prosecuting crimes against revenue.
  • STOP political corruption and enforce the law without fear or favor.
  • COMBAT the Heroin and Opioid Crisis plaguing our communities.
  • CREATE new specialized prosecution units to protect seniors, women, children and our immigrant community.
  • ESTABLISH an Conviction Review Unit to preserve the integrity of the process and ensure no one is the victim of a wrongful conviction.

No one is above the law and Tom will fight every day to ensure just that.
