A crash occurred on I-87 east bound by the on-ramp at about 1:20pm.

It appears that an 18 wheeler, an SUV, a car and a dump truck were involved.  The dump truck appeared to swerve in order to avoid other vehicles, hit the median, went airborne and lost the front axle as it landed on it’s side.  Traffic was backed up for about an hour before a single lane was opened to traffic.

Ramapo Valley Ambulance and Tallman Fire Department responded quickly followed by the New York State Troopers, the NYSDOT and the Rockland Hazmat team.

It appeared as if at least was person was injured in the crash however details have not yet been made available.

As of 3:45pm traffic was moving slowly as the DOT is still in the process of cleaning up the accident scene.
