The award-winning Suffern High School Robotics Team is hosting a fun and informative Open House on Saturday January 5th in the Suffern High School cafeteria from 10:00am-12:00pm.

The event which is part of their community outreach effort features Suffern’s Team 7486 and teams from two additional schools.

“The expo this weekend has taken a lot of time to coordinate in hopes of being as interesting and fun as possible. A large part of what we do as a team involves connecting with our community so hosting events to showcase our work is a great way to reach out” said Project Manager and SHS junior, Hannah Gandon, “Our expo is open to all and there will be teams from other schools attending to help us show off what can be accomplished through FIRST. We have received so many amazing opportunities over the years so it’s our job to give back while encouraging younger students to become involved in STEAM projects as well.”

The event will begin at 10:00am with opening ceremonies, followed by practice matches from 10:30-11:00am.

The second hour features discussions on engineering, 3D design, documentation and building with the opportunity to drive a robot.

“Our expo this weekend focuses on bringing robotics to our community. People will be able to see our robot in action, drive a demo bot, and try building a robot frame for themselves” said Team 7486 senior and co-captain Fran Daszak, “This event has been created with the interests of everyone in mind and we hope to see a variety of visitors.”
